BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Ben Rose
President
Ben has been an LPTA member for 12 years, a Board member for five, and has served as President since November 2021. After a long career in banking and finance, Ben now runs a small manufacturing business. He has also served on the Boards of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Chicago and the Pellet Fuel Institute, a renewable energy trade association. He lives in Lincoln Park with his wife, Ronit.
Ron Davies
Director
Ron has been a member of LPTA since 2020, and this is his first year on the Board. He rarely, if ever, refuses an offer to play tennis. “The Club has become an important part of my life,” says Ron. “So much so that when I downsized my home recently, the only criterion was a ‘walk to LPTA location,’ which I accomplished.”
Andy Korn
Vice President
Andy and his wife, Lori Kleiman, are entering their fourth season at LPTA. Prior to this season, he served as LPTA’s Treasurer for two years. “I’ve enjoyed my time both working for and playing at our very special place by the lake,” says Andy.
Sandra Silver
Treasurer
This is Sandra’s third season with the Club and her first year on the Board. As Treasurer she oversees all financial transactions and is responsible for budget planning, financial reports, record-keeping, and managing incoming and outgoing funds.
Marjie Killeen
Secretary
Marjie has belonged to LPTA for eight years and has been on the Board for two. As Secretary, she puts her writing skills to work taking Board meeting minutes and managing the Club’s records. Marjie spends winters in Bonita Springs, Florida and rarely sets foot on an indoor or hard court. She loves playing in the women’s and mixed doubles tournaments and is working on her net game.
Randee Saturno
Immediate Past President
Tennis has been Randee’s passion since high school. Randee and her husband Mark have been
members of LPTA for 10 years. She served on the Board for the past nine and was President for the 2020 and
2021 seasons. “I love many things about LPTA but mostly the people,” Randee says. “This is my summer escape and I am grateful to everyone who makes it such a special place.”
Rush Howell
Director
Rush joined LPTA around 2013 (he thinks) and has been thrilled to be part of the community for the last decade plus. This is his second year on the Board. Having grown up playing on clay courts in Atlanta, Rush was thrilled to find this “hidden gem” in Chicago. He and his wife Erin live downtown with their two boys, and he’s always happy to hit - or explain why he thinks Roger Federer is the greatest player of all time.
Nathan Lumpkin
Director
This is Nathan’s second year on the Board. As an entrepreneur who owns several small businesses and the father of three little girls, he’s a very busy guy. You certainly can’t miss his energy on the court. A lifelong athlete, he was a Division 3 tennis player in college.
Jill Silberg
President
This is Jill’s third year on the Board and her second as head of the Membership Experience Committee (MEC), which she enjoys very much. She credits her hard working committee members with coming up with many great ideas to improve the Club. “I love getting to know people at the Club and forming new
friendships,” says Jill, “as well as growing established ones.”
Pam Wyne
Director
This is Pam’s first year on the Board and it’s been a very busy one. She assumed the role of Membership Chair and contInues to co-captain the Women’s B Team with Kathryn Brown. “LPTA is a gem tucked on the shore of Lake Michigan in the heart of Chicago where you can play endless days of clay court tennis. It doesn’t get much better than this.”
Stan Martin
Director
Stan, an LPTA member for seven years, is serving his first year on the Board. “I think it’s fair to say that tennis consumes my life and I am very passionate about its physical and mental health benefits,” he says. Stan recently retIred from Deloitte ConsultIng and splits his time between Chicago and Oro Valley, Arizona.
STAFF
ANGIE GARBOT
Co-Manager
2021 was Angie’s first season with LPTA…and she came back for more! Angie spent 15 years in IT before pursuing her passion for photography. Weddings, families, commercial work…she does it all. LPTA complements her mostly-weekends photography gigs – and got her back on the courts after not having played for almost 10 years! Fun Fact: Angie has a Master’s Degree in Linguistics. Say hi to her in Turkish!
George Koretos
Co-Manager
George grew up on the North Shore and was in the restaurant business for more than 35 years. He loves the great change of pace and atmosphere at LPTA and leverages his hospitality experience to make sure the member experience and grounds are top notch. Fun Fact: He loves a good Italian sub. Ask him for his favorites!
Duncan Stephens
Grounds Manager
Everyone knows Duncan! He’s responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and improvements of the courts & grounds for both LPTA and DTC. He’s been with the club since 2002. Duncan rises before the sun, and you’ll often find him at the club as early as 4:30 am. Fun Fact: Duncan is an excellent cricket and rugby player and played semi-pro soccer in the 70’s and 80’s.
Curtis Henderson
Staff
Curtis mostly works on the Diversey Tennis Center side and is an outdoors type of guy. While not at LPTA, Curtis loves to ride and work on bicycles.
Director of Tennis, Lead Pro
Raul Esquerra
Raul was a top ranked junior, competing in national tournaments from age 12 and playing other noteworthy tournaments like the Orange Bowl. He then played collegiate tennis for nationally-ranked Cal State and then DePaul university, where he also lettered in track. He’s played International Tennis Federation events on the Senior Tennis Tour. Raul has taught tennis at various Northshore clubs and was most recently a tennis pro at Chicago’s Saddle & Cycle. Other tennis thrills include being part of José María “Pepe” Arenas’ team during the most recent US Open. Pepe is one of the most versatile and respected coaches on both the ATP and WTA tours. During an earlier Grand Slam tournament, also with Pepe, Raul tried his hardest not to be star struck when realizing that Ivan Lendl was their counterpart, sitting in the opposing player’s box.
Raul holds BS degrees in Finance, Economics as well as an MBA. Raul was a Senior Vice President in the cyber security organization of a major financial institution, building a global team and directing the establishment of operations in Asia, Europe and the Americas. Pros
-
The Head Pro may reserve court 6 without any of the usual restrictions that apply to the membership at large, with the exception of the times that are blocked out for open court play on busy weekdays, weekends, and holidays, and during certain special events. At the Head Pro’s discretion, he/she may cede court 6 to an assistant pro. All matters related to the use of private courts by tennis pros are subject to review by the Club Manager or Assistant Manager.
-
An LPTA member may arrange, at his/her cost, for lessons with the Head Tennis Pro or another approved LPTA instructor on court 6. The Club Manager and Head Pro are the final authority on all teaching assignments.
-
LPTA courts 5 & 6 may be reserved for team practices and the All-Levels Group Tennis Drills when two courts are being used. Lessons, tournament matches, and other club-sponsored events are not allowed on the courts prior to 11:00 am on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Season-long league and ladder matches and other Club sponsored events may be played when there are team matches, drill groups, and team practices in session, but only under the same terms that apply to all other club members, i.e., “first come, first served” and 50-minute playing time when others are waiting. Except for semi-finals and finals, the 50-minute bumping rule applies at all times.
-
Only LPTA members may sign up for All-Level Tennis Drills. LPTA members may invite a guest to join if space is available within 24 hours prior to the scheduled session. Anyone who signs up and fails to cancel or gives less than 24-hour notice of cancellation twice in a season (without due cause) will lose group tennis drill privileges.

Except for LPTA-approved instruction, no LPTA member or guest may provide tennis instruction for compensation on the LPTA private courts. Any guest who violates this rule will be asked to leave and may forfeit his/her right to be a guest for the remainder of the season. LPTA will not refund any guest fee(s).
